Pancake Tuesday

Today is Pancake Tuesday! I just learned this term on the radio this morning.

I've always knew Ash Wednesday is tomorrow, which is 40 days before Easter Sunday, but I truly learned the meaning of Lent from a Catholic friend a few years back when she decided to give up cheese during Lent.

The meaning of Pancake Tuesday is because of Lent, people would have to eat up their good food, which is usually eggs, flour, sugar and milk. Therefore, with these ingredients, one would easily make pancakes. Hence Pancake Tuesday!

This is a very interesting concept. To give up something that we enjoy for 40 days to experience and depend on God. I am thinking of Lenting this year too...but what should I give up? I suddenly realize I am blessed with many things...
